Automate website change alerts with Zapier

SiteGauge fires a Zap the moment a change is detected through a live REST-hook subscription, connected with your own API key, so you can route website changes into thousands of apps and create monitors from spreadsheets, forms and CRMs the same way.

How to set it up

The same steps you will see in the product, so there are no surprises.

1

In SiteGauge, open Settings then API keys and create a key (the prefix is vgl_; API access is on every plan, including Free).

2

In Zapier, add Webhooks by Zapier as your trigger step and choose Catch Hook to get a unique URL for the Zap.

3

Subscribe that URL to SiteGauge's change feed: call POST /api/v1/hooks/subscriptions with your API key and the Catch Hook URL as targetUrl. Every detected change then POSTs signed JSON straight into your Zap, instantly, with optional filters for a specific monitor and a minimum severity.

4

To create monitors from a Zap instead, add a Webhooks by Zapier POST step that calls POST /api/v1/urls with your API key in the Authorization header.

What arrives in Zapier

  • A plain-English AI summary of what changed and why it matters, once analysis completes
  • Category and importance score, usually included so the loud signals surface first
  • A link back to the full before and after in SiteGauge
  • Grouped delivery on your alert cadence, so a busy page never floods the channel

Zapier FAQs

Which plan includes Zapier?
Every plan, including Free. Connecting to Zapier uses a SiteGauge API key and our REST-hook API, and API access is included on every plan.
What can I automate with Zapier?
Trigger a Zap the instant SiteGauge detects a change, with optional filters for a specific monitor, a tag and a minimum severity, or create a new monitor from a Zap so you can add pages from a Google Sheet, a form or a CRM.
Does the trigger payload include the AI summary?
The hook fires as soon as a change is confirmed, before the AI analysis pass finishes, so the AI summary, category and importance score can be blank on the payload. A deterministic summary and a link to the full change in SiteGauge are always included.
Is the trigger instant or polled?
Instant. The moment SiteGauge detects a change, it POSTs a signed JSON payload straight to the URL you subscribed, rather than waiting on a polling interval.
Is there a SiteGauge app in the Zapier App Directory?
Not yet listed there. You can connect today with SiteGauge's REST-hook API and your API key, using the steps above, which works right now regardless of directory listing.
