What counts as a check?

One check = one scheduled visit to one monitored page. All detection modes run on every check, namely visual comparison, text extraction and element monitoring, so it's one flat unit at every tier. No credit weightings, no complexity multipliers.

  • JavaScript rendering, geo-targeting, proxies and logins don't change the price
  • Manual “check now” and API-triggered checks draw from the same allowance
  • Failed checks (timeouts, network errors) are retried automatically, and free
  • A check counts whether or not a change is found
Run out of checks? Monitors pause by default, or switch on pay-as-you-go overage at $2.00 per 1,000 checks with a spend cap you set. We warn you at 80% and 95%, with no forced upgrades. Allowances reset on your billing date; no rollover.

What counts as a check?
A check is one scheduled visit to one monitored page. All detection modes, namely visual comparison, text extraction and element monitoring, run on every check, so it's one flat unit at every tier. JavaScript rendering, geo-targeting, proxies and login flows don't change the price. A check counts whether or not a change is found; failed checks are retried automatically and free.
How do I estimate how many checks I'll use?
Checks per month = pages × checks-per-day × 30. So 10 pages checked hourly is 10 × 24 × 30 = 7,200 checks. Use the calculator at the top of this page: enter your page count and frequency and it recommends the right tier.
What happens if I run out of checks?
By default your monitors simply pause until the allowance resets. Or you can switch on pay-as-you-go overage at $2.00 per 1,000 checks and set a monthly spend cap. We never force you up a tier mid-cycle. You'll get in-app and email warnings at 80% and 95% of your allowance.
Do unused checks roll over?
No. Allowances reset on your monthly billing date and don't roll over. This keeps the pricing simple and predictable: you're always paying for the capacity you chose.
What's the difference between an editor and a viewer?
Editors create, configure and manage monitors and count against your seat limit. Viewers receive alerts, see dashboards and browse change history, and they're unlimited and free on every paid tier. Distribute SiteGauge to as many stakeholders as you like at no extra cost.
Can I add more editor seats?
Yes, on Pro and Business: extra editors are $7/month each, prorated. Pro includes 3 editors and Business includes 10. Viewers remain unlimited and free regardless.
Is enterprise pricing really published?
Yes. Enterprise starts at £1,200/month (≈ $1,500), billed annually, including the first 500,000 checks/month, SSO, a 99.9% SLA, and unlimited editors, viewers and workspaces. Checks above that are charged on published marginal bands (from £1.00 down to £0.25 per 1,000), so procurement can model the bill before talking to us. Committed annual volume earns a 15% discount.
Is there a fair-use policy?
Our per-check price assumes a normal mix of check types. Where proxied, geo-routed or authenticated checks exceed 20% of your monthly volume on a sustained basis, we may move the account to custom pricing with 30 days' notice. This is invisible to the vast majority of customers: it's just a backstop.
What about VAT and currency?
Prices are shown in USD, our primary billing currency. UK customers can check out in GBP, and VAT (or applicable local sales tax) is added at checkout via Stripe Tax where required.
Can I upgrade or downgrade?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; downgrades take effect at your next renewal. The Free plan needs no credit card, and paid plans start with a 14-day free trial you can cancel any time.
