How to connect

In SiteGauge, open Settings then API keys (the button above lands you there).

Claude or ChatGPT: add a custom connector with the MCP URL above. You will be asked to sign in to SiteGauge and approve, no API key needed.

Cursor, Cline, VS Code or any client that supports a custom header: create an API key (vgl_...) and use the MCP URL above with an Authorization Bearer header set to that key.

Ask your assistant to list your monitors, explain a recent change, or add a new page to watch.

Do I need an API key to connect?
Not for Claude or ChatGPT. Add a custom connector with the MCP URL below, sign in to SiteGauge and approve, no key to copy. Clients that take a plain Authorization header instead, such as Cursor, Cline or VS Code, use one of your existing SiteGauge API keys as a Bearer token.
Which plan do I need for the MCP server?
Every plan, including Free. Write access to create a monitor still depends on your role in the workspace: a read-only viewer seat can list and read everything but cannot create one.
What can my AI assistant actually do?
List your monitors, pull a monitor's recent changes plus its uptime and SSL status, get the full detail of a single change (text diff, before/after SEO elements, price and screenshots), list recent changes across the workspace by importance or recency, and create a new monitor for a URL.
Is it safe to let an AI assistant near my monitors?
The only tool that changes anything is create_monitor, and it requires both an editor role in the workspace and write access on the connection. Every other tool is read-only, so an assistant can look but not touch unless you have explicitly granted write access.
